Royal Air Maroc launches domestic flight between Casablanca and Essaouira

Starting November 1st, the “City of the Trade Winds” (Essaouira) will once again be accessible in less than an hour and a half from Casablanca-Mohamed V, thanks to a new offering from Royal Air Maroc (RAM).

Previously, traveling from Casablanca to Essaouira by air meant either taking a long road trip or making a detour via Marrakech. Royal Air Maroc is changing this by launching a direct route next month, with two flights per week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The significance of this goes beyond a simple domestic connection. Through Casablanca, Essaouira will be linked to the 86 international destinations within Royal Air Maroc’s network, a major selling point for local tourism operators. This new route also brings the airline’s total number of domestic connections to 28.

Fares are set at a fixed rate: 800 DH for a round-trip in economy class and 1,600 DH in business class. This works out to 400 DH per leg in economy, roughly the same cost as a long-distance bus ticket.

As for the schedule, outbound flights depart on Wednesdays at 4:00 PM and Sundays at 8:20 AM, arriving at Essaouira Mogador Airport at 5:20 PM and 9:40 AM, respectively. Return flights depart on the same days at 6:00 PM and 10:20 AM, arriving at 7:20 PM and 11:40 AM.
