Ryanair serves domestic flights in Morocco

The recent opening of domestic routes in Morocco by Ryanair marks a significant milestone in the country’s civil aviation history, providing travelers with a new economical option for exploring the kingdom. The Irish low-cost airline, known for its competitive fares and extensive network across Europe, embarked on a new adventure by obtaining authorization to serve domestic cities in the country a few months ago, becoming thus a major competitor for the country’s historic operators, notably Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia Maroc.

The kick-off was given last Sunday, with the first flight taking off at dawn from Marrakech-Menara airport to reach Oujda-Angad, followed by a second flight linking the same city to Tetouan – Sania R’ email. These inaugural flights symbolize Ryanair’s ambition to democratize the air in Morocco, offering attractive prices from 150 DH.

These new domestic connections are part of a broader expansion project of the Irish operator in Morocco, with the announcement of eleven other routes to come, aimed at connecting the country’s major cities such as Agadir, Errachidia, Essaouira , Fez, Tangier, and Ouarzazat. The objective stated by the company is ambitious: to transport more than ten million passengers on these domestic routes in the next three years, an initiative which could transform the landscape of Moroccan domestic aviation.

Ryanair’s entry into the Maghreb country’s domestic market is enthusiastically welcomed by travelers, offering an economical alternative to existing options and promising to boost domestic tourism as well as the mobility of Moroccans and foreign residents.
