Iberia announces its return to Moroccan airports

The reopening of Morocco’s borders next Monday will of course be accompanied by health measures linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, including the obligation of vaccination and a PCR test of less than 48 hours. The airline Iberia announces its return to the airports of Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier.

A statement from the Moroccan government on February 1, 2022 detailed the travel restrictions that will still apply from February 7, the day international flights are relaunched. “In accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and on the basis of the recommendations of the technical commission created for this purpose”, these measures include according to a press release:

Obligation to present the vaccination pass and the negative result of a PCR test less than 48 hours before boarding the plane for all travelers wishing to access the national territory.
Carrying out rapid tests for passengers upon their arrival at the airports of the Kingdom.
Performing PCR tests for groups of travelers randomly upon arrival; they will be informed of the results later.
Possibility of carrying out an additional test at the hotel or at the residence center for tourists, after 48 hours of their entry into the national territory.
Implementation of special measures for positive cases: the obligation for normal positive cases to observe sanitary confinement in the places of their residences, while subjecting them to careful monitoring, or the transfer of difficult and critical positive cases to hospitals for necessary care.
The government once again urges all visitors, whether Moroccans, resident foreigners or tourists, to “contribute positively to the successful implementation of these measures”.

Many airlines have already announced the relaunch of flights to and from Morocco, including Royal Air Maroc, Air Arabia Maroc, Air France, Transavia, TUI Fly Belgium or Binter among others. On Monday, Iberia did the same, announcing on social networks for February 7 the resumption of its flights to Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier, without further details.
